Prince Andrew saves the day!

Last Friday Andrew had a play date with his friend Abby. We went to her house for the morning and enjoyed lunch with her. They had so much fun together. Both of them had a slight melt down when it was time for Andrew to go home. All the way home I was pestering the little guy to keep him awake. If he sleeps for even 3 minutes in the car, our nap is OVER! Not a good thing. I got him home and put into bed. Much to my surprise, he decided he didn't need to sleep. He was so tired from playing hard. I went in his room an hour later and told him he needed to sleep. Again I was surprised by the following coversation:

Mom: Andrew, you need to go to sleep.
Andrew: No, Mommy...I can't sleep now...
Mom: Why? Buddy, whats up.
Andrew: (holding up a play phone) Abby called.
Mom: Really?
Andrew: Yes, she's scared.
Mom: Abby is scared?
Andrew: Yes, Andrew save her, Mommy.
Mom: Abby's scared and you have to save her.
Andrew: Yes Mommy!
Mom: You can save her another time, Andrew, you need to go to sleep!
Andrew: But Mommy, Abby my princess!!
Mom: Ok, Andrew....you can get up.

I know I caved, but seriously I was laughing to hard to do anything else. So, if you're ever scared, I'm sure that Prince Andrew will be happy to give up his nap to save you!
This is Andrew and his Princess this past fall.

Scrub a Dub

I don't know about your house, but bath time is PLAY time around these parts! Andrew loves his bath. He always wants Mommy and Daddy to take a bath with him. Mommy always says no, much to his disappointment. Sometimes Daddy says yes, which is followed by a big YEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!! But, the other night his request was for Marranne to take a bath with him. Upon much contemplation on my part, I decided I could make this work. So, here's to clean kids.
Is this the face of an Angel, or what? You decide...

We just want you to know that no babies are emotionally scarred by the events you've witnessed above!!

A winner and a crazy day.

So I know that you are all waiting with bated breath, so I'll make you wait no longer. The winner is KAT!! Congratulations. You can pick your prize anytime!

Now on to my crazy day. Look at that, you all checked to see if you won, and other than Kat you may all be disappointed, well, to make the blow lighter on your heart, have a laugh on me.

So yesterday started out with Andrew hollering from his room, and I quote: "Mommy, Chaw Melt NOOOOOWWWW!!!!" For those of you who don't speak Andrew, he wanted chocolate milk. Not sure but I think I should have taken this moment as a hint that the rest of my day wasn't going to be overly peaceful.
After going into his room, and gently scolding him for being so demanding, I plopped him on my bed (a morning ritual) and turned on Super Why. Went to the kitchen to get the prince his milk, and came back only to realize that he had peed through his diaper and thus got pee on my PILLOW!!!!! Good morning.
At this moment, Marianne woke up. Let me tell you something about this little bundle. She has two modes. Happy and SCREAMING!! There really isn't a work up to her cry, its just there. Because of this, you can never tell what the problem is until you peel yourself off the ceiling and make your way into whatever room she is in.
She happened to be in her bedroom, so off I go. (With pillow case in hand.) When I enter her room, I know she is hungry by the fact that she is desperately sucking on her fist. Within moments, I also know she has a dirty diaper. So, I toss the pillow case on the pile of laundry in her room, and scoop her up.....and quickly learn that the dirtiness in her diaper has not been fully contained......YUCK!
After cleaning her up, I realize that Andrew is still in his too full diaper....on. my. bed.
Lets fast forward to nap time. Not because of any other reason than that this too will make you laugh.
I have started to eat my lunch in the quietness of nap time. So, after a wonderfully nutritious lunch of Mac and Cheese with Hot Dogs, Andrew is off to bed. I go to the kitchen to prepare my lunch. I was so looking forward to my celery with peanut butter, fruit salad, and wheat thins. Just as I sat down, I hear Andrew playing in his room. So I take a quick couple bites, deeply hoping he settles down. He doesn't. Off I go for some more gentle scolding. I put his books back in the basket and tell him its nap time.
Back in the dining room, I look at my plate to find NOTHING. My stinking dog...

After a nice visit with my friend on the phone, I hear Andrew. OK, so not a long nap, but sometimes you have to take what you can get, right? I go in his room, find out VERY quickly that he has not been sleeping. At this point, you may wonder how I know this. I know because just before lunch, we picked up his bedroom and now it looks like this:

Oh, let me not forget this one important part, HE IS NAKED. Yes, and there is pee on the wall. Yeah for me! Imagine my surprise.
After cleaning up the wall....the toys are a lost cause....Its time for a snack. I made a very lovely and once again nutritious snack....sugar cookies with frosting. Andrew ate his while I fed Marianne. Upon finishing that task of Motherhood, I took a bite of my cookie. I was caught enjoying this sugary yumminess, and was promptly asked if I would share. And because I'm a good Mom and never deny my son sugar, I forked it over.

Life is good at our house, don't be fooled. I would never give a moment of my life with my kids up for anything!! I must say, being a mom is the GREATEST. I will be honest though and say that I sure hope today is a little less, um, soggy. To remind my self why I do what I do, I took this photo:

Happy New Year

2009 is here. I know I'm behind a little, but things are crazy as usual in the Bush house.
Andrew is enjoying being 2. He loves his new toys and thinks they should all be in the living room. Marianne is full of smiles. A very happy baby!! She is now sleeping through the night, for which I am very thankful! We are counting our blessings already this year! We are looking forward to a visit home to Montana in March. We are excited to introduce Marianne to my grandparents. Great Grandma Wayve is looking forward to meeting the little girl who shares her middle name and Great Grandpa Wesley is excited to see "Daisy June." Why he calls her Daisy June, we may never know, but he's almost 86 years old so...
We are also very excited about traveling to Montana in July with our good friends Dawn and Jeremy. We are looking forward to 2 1/2 weeks of fun with them. We will be at camp for Senior week and spend the rest of our time enjoying God's creation.
Other things we look forward to this year are: Paul's 14 year anniversary with AT&T, the summer at Silver Lake, my nephew Treysen's graduation in VA, working with the youth at church, a new senior pastor, Marianne's first year, and Andrews 3rd birthday.
Life is looking good in the Bush house in 2009.
